Widgetsense Rising? Google Embeds Widgets Inside Ads

The Google is continuing it's widget march with two separate but important moves.

First and foremost, Google is running an advertising test with Lab Pixies. The recent ads promoting Gmail were basically embedded widgets. In the next 12 months we're going to see a lot more rich content put inside ad tiles. Given Google's prowess in contextually placing ads near content it seems to me as though they could easily work with advertisers to create rich widgets that show up in the right places at the right time - e.g. Widgetsense, Adsense for widgets. They also could acquire Lab Pixies.

Separately, Google also has added ratings and review features to the widget directory (Google calls them gadgets). Here's my page. You can rate my feed. On the Google Operating System's page you will find other blogs like it. The Google Blog has more

» Steve Rubel on WidgetSense from Joe Wikert's Publishing 2020 Blog
Steve Rubel muses about the next generation of widgets in this post. He talks about the possibility of Google applying their contextual expertise in AdSense to a widget technology he calls WidgetSense. Great thinking. Up to now I've looked at [Read More]

I'd love to see them flesh out feed ratings/reviews in general, not just in the context of widgets. They could integrate it with Google Reader.

They'd be able to tell which feeds are not only widely read, but also highly rated, which would help them a lot when they eventually have Adsense for feeds (or just buy Feedburner)

Very interesting. Google is cleaver and ahead of MS, however, way behind what HT is doing. Take a look at www.clipvine.com and download the free gadget tool...any web view sent to any mobile device in just three clicks...AND they are dynamic (Google hasn't quite got that one yet). They can be saved in Google IG, MS.live or our clipvine. We are attempting to fine-tune their release so comments are rather welcome.

l also just read from the adsense official blog of google about this article and l saw they gawe u a backlink of your article and its should be very friendly for you:)
l am also adsense publisher and like all adsense publishers myself also liked the news changes of best pay per click broadcaster of google adsense's new advertisement blocks.
They are working hard to understand what the advertisers want and how to make them happy with the publishers clicks, from my point of wiew, adsense advertising unit workers also realised that the old wiew of google adsense was becoming unfriendly to the publishers and they become a very apart side of the website they are published. Google is changing this, they are tring to design new templates for their advertisers to let visitors of the adsense publishers pages more good looking and friendly to let them "click" on the advertisement.
l think adsense advertisers also want this new format. They were also realising they advertisers become very unfamilier with the site. They were also looking for the best position to their ads for maximum response. l think google will giwe more friendly looks to their advertisers to let the visitors "click" on the advertisements...
Advertisers happy, Publishers happy. Google happy.
