Just thinking out loud... if marketers begin to disregard the page view, advertising will also begin to drop since there's no credible way to measure. But maybe its the natural evolution of the web as it begins to become more interactive (more like a conversation than a publication), it will also begin to be more like the real world and not a media. Then maybe revenue will stop being ad focused but product or service focused like the real world.

Amen brother Benjamin. I would love to see the internet move away from being ad focused to service/product focused. I'm optimistic it can happen. Though I don't think we've reached the bottom of the rabbit hole yet.
