Google Base Becoming a Stealth Podcast Search Engine?
Google is running an Adwords that invites podcasters to upload their shows to Google Base. The landing page asks podcasters to select some of their best programming to upload to Google Base. It seems curious to me that Google Base is being marketed this way. Me wonders if this is Google's way of building a podcast search engine.

Steve this doesn’t make sense. There must be an other way for Google to step in de market of podcasting

This really makes no sense -- as it is Google Base does not allow for the uploading of MP3 files so what exactly is the point here?

Hi Steve,
I tried uploading a .mp3 file to google base podcasting area and it still is an unsupported file extension. I noted that you can choose podcast from the dropdown but I am wondering what kind of file they expect you to upload?

Steve,
I reported on this back in August. It looked like a big case of ad spam back then. And it still does, if you go two or three pages into google base.
I'm not sure why their sellingPitter Patter Baby Shower Party 9'' Dinner Plates (8) in the podcast results.
You can find the August post here http://www.digitalpodcast.com/podcastnews/2006/08/14/google-base-share-your-podcasts-or-is-it-spam/

I'm totallylost with what this is supposed to do. If Google wants a podcast directory why don't they just make one. What's up with the "bulk upload" anyway? I'm just plain lost!
