King of the Webless Millions
I never imagined Rosanne Barr could sound more intelligent than Larry King, but in this interview she does. King reveals he's never used the Internet and questions if it's "a viable political medium!" To this Barr replies "it's the only one left." This reminds me of those conversations that start with "what's a blog?"
Funniness aside, the conversation is telling. There's definitely a lot of people out there who don't use the Web. In the US it's like 40 percent of the population. So, if anything, the banter between Barr and King is good grounding. Something tells me every day that 40 percent shrinks a little bit because, um, people die.
By the way, Rosanne Barr has started a blog. I know you we're dying to know!

ha! good point.

Steve, I haven't heard Roseanne for about a decade, but I always thought she had a mind and a wit that was sharp as a cleaver. It surprises me not one bit that she outshone Larry King. And, not to be too cruel, but if they put her in the same room with Lou Dobbs, the contrast would be even starker.

Larry just ended his career. Remember the last journalist who underestimated the Internet?

Tell Larry King I can't take his call right now. I'm blogging.

Not surprising since it was only a few years ago he was told movies had sound.

I think your comment that this is telling is very important from a marketers point of view. If nearly half the population isn't on the Internet, then anything being done on the Internet is not hitting them at all. I suspect, that a lot of those people are in very desirable demographics too - think people over 50 and people over 60 with discretionary income.
So, they're not on the Intenret. How are you going to reach them?
