Digg Beats Google News on the Rumsfeld Story

Man, digg is fast. According to The Mu Life, when the news broke today that Donald Rumsfeld had resigned, the digg crowd was on it in 2-3 minutes. Some 20 minutes later, Google News was still catching up. The Mu Life has the screen shots to prove it.

Too bad you have to wade through all the crap that goes up on Digg to get to the good stuff like this.

Actually, Steve, it looks like Comedy Central broke the story, believe it or not: here it is.

He put the same article on Netscape with the title "Why Netscape is Better Than Google News"

What I am trying to figure out is which is better digg or netscape. Comaparing google news to netscape or digg is comparing apples to oranges. The AP, or Reuters probably reported it first on the entire net anyway.

And the AP beat them both. Social media is great, but without a mainstream media to feed off of, it's value for things like national news drops to about two bucks.

Yes, indeed digg actually brings you a lot of traffic, however the quality of the link and content is very important.
