Bitty Browser Goes Mobile
Bitty Browser, a fantastic widget that can be embedded into any Web site, has launched a mobile version - and it is downright handy.
The core Bitty Browser service is basically a frame that makes it a snap to browse to light or full versions of dozens of Web sites without having to leave the page you're on. It can be easily integrated into a start page like say Netvibes or even a TypePad or Wordpress blog sidebar.
The mobile version (m.bitty.com) is even more useful. It's essentially a starting point for your mobile browser. It links to light versions of all the top sites. The Mobile Bitty Browser also has a link that you can use to visit a stripped-down version of any Web site, even it if it does not have a mobile version.
My one nit with the Mobile Bitty is that each link takes you to an interstitial ad before you hit your destination. That may be fine on the desktop, but on a wireless device it's a real hassle. I would rather see lightweight text ads on the home page.

Hey Steve, thanks. I just wanted to quickly note that m.bitty.com is still a somewhat experimental offshoot of the Bitty Browser project. Basically, it maps the "m" subdomain over to the current Bitty Browser default home page. If people wind up finding this to be handy mobile start page, I'd be happy to further tweak the contents for that environment. -Scott

The implementation is pretty cool. But i have to say that the usability is not even 1.0ish. There are just too many noisy content. Header is not smooth. Content too comes equally bad. I am disappointed over all. They could have a done a much much better job. The idea is very good and so is performance of the app.

Abhishek: please feel free to contact me via the Bitty site (www.bitty.com), I'd be happy to discuss your observations and suggestions. For example, I'm not quite sure what you're seeing when you say "not smooth" -- perhaps something different that what I see... -Scott
