Stanford Launches a Wiki, Companies Take Note

Stanford University is tearing a page out of Wikipedia - literally. They are launching a wiki that allows students to share campus information and and much more. The project is open to the general public to view, not just the University community. However, if you want to edit it, then you need to be a student.

I like this idea a lot. It's bold, sure. But imagine if every institution from colleges, to government and corporations launched a wiki for their constituents. It would make it easy for people to find out the straight dope from the community that cares most about the particular institution. I know if I were considering applying to Stanford (ha - never likely with my SATs), I would be crawling all over this site for essay and application ideas. Keep an eye on this project.
