AOL Opens Powerful Video Metasearch Engine

AOL has opened a rather powerful a video metasearch tool. It's set up as realy a demo to appeal to developers who will build on it, rather than as a big consumer-facing property. You can try out a number of different implementations of the site here.

The SearchVideo tool aggregates results from the likes of YouTube, MSN Video, Google Video and much more. In addition, they have created a suite of tools for developers to use, according to PVR Wire. The site is powered by Truveo.

Given the rising importance of video - both professional and consumer created - this is an essential site for marketers and PR pros to use. I particularly like how it doesn't just search the hubs but also mainstream sites like the BBC's web site, Reuters and Rocketboom. I also love how the site will generate RSS feeds for metas-searches. Bookmarked.
