Take any Topix Page to Go on a Celly

Earlier this week I wrote up some Topix.net hacks. Josh Bancroft has discovered an amazing one. Topix autodectects when you visit their site on a mobile device and transcodes the pages on the fly. Alternately, you can make any Topix.net page mobile-ready page by adding ?lw=1 to the end of the URL. Here's two to try out: Top Stories in the Blogosphere and NFL news. I have sent both to my Blackberry. By the way, Topix has a nice clean search page too for searching news and blogs.

I was going to send this to you, but you already found it. :-)

Another great feature of Topix.net is that if you visit any of their pages on a mobile device (presumably, one that they recognize by the UserAgent string), it will automatically show you the mobile friendly version of the page. That's how I discovered the ?lw=1 hack.

Very impressive work on their part, for supporting mobile devices seamlessly. :-)
