I am thrilled to report that Michael Wiley (photo) is joining the me2revolution group that I work in at Edelman. He is coming on board as a SVP. If you don't know Michael, he was formerly GM's head of new media. He played a pivotal role in developing General Motor's blogging strategy and above all getting Vice Chairman Bob Lutz to start participating in the blogosphere in early 2005. This was a seminal moment in PR history.
In the me2revolution "lab" at Edelman we basically study new technologies that will impact marketing communications, incubate programs that leverage them all with the intent of generating conversation. Michael is a key addition to our team and I am thrilled to be working with him. He will zero in working with our corporate practice, which focuses on reputation management, crisis management, and financial communications. Michael has relocated to our Chicago office.
I can't underscore what a win this is for our team and Edelman. This is like A-Rod joining an all-star Yankees team that already includes Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada with Rick Murray playing the role of skipper Joe Torre and a far nicer version of George Steinbrenner running the whole shebang. He's going to have a huge impact on our clients and I'm really excited to get an opportunity to learn from one of the all-time great online communicators.
