Google to Launch Spreadsheet Tomorrow

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google tomorrow will launch a Web-based spreadsheet application on a limited test basis. No further details are available.

Hey Steve, I have it from the horse's mouth that this is NOT happening. The CEO, Yoah shot me a quick mail to explain what their rough plans for iRows are and there was no mention of Google whatsoever! Check out my post for more info.

Correction to my previous post...I had incorrectly assumed that your post was in direct relation to the wall street journal rumour that Google had bought iRows, which I am told it most defintiely has NOT.

So now Google has Base, Writely, Spreadsheet, Mail and Calendar. It feels like the only 'application' they're missing is a PowerPoint app. Perhaps a whizzy WYSIWYG web page editor with some templates might deliver something presentational and Googlish at the same time. But the direction they're heading in is clear: they're gunning for Microsoft's cash cow, Office.
