Read Minds with AllTheWeb Livesearch
AlltheWeb, part of Yahoo, has rolled out Livesearch. It analyzes your search query in real-time and instantly provides Web results and potential alternate queries as you type. The queries are based on what other people have searched for.
This is a terrific tool for marketers and PR professionals. So much of what we try to do is to get inside the mind of the consumer. We want to know how they think and we spend a lot of money to get there. Livesearch shows us how people search. It pulls up all of the related terms they're looking for when they enter a certain product or category. That's invaluable data. What's unclear is if this tool brings in data from Yahoo or just AlltheWeb, which isn't widely used. (Via MoMB)

This has to pull in results from yahoo. Searching for myself, I see search terms come up that only I, or a select few other people, would have searched for, none of which I can safely say have used "AllTheWeb" before yesterday.

Here's an article that talks about the future in determining relevancy of the instant suggest feature.

In the article, it talks about using analytics data to order the suggested keywords to get better click-through rates. Or present keywords to the searcher that are highest converting, almost as if someone else had narrowed down the search that resulted in finding exactly what they wanted.

Whats the difference between what this and what Google Suggest does?

Google suggest gives only completions, Yahoo LiveSearch also gives the search results for the most probable completion of the query. It also allows to go between results for different variations of a query very fast.
