The State of the Podosphere

Feedburner says there are more than 1.6 million aggregate subscribers to FeedBurner-managed podcasts, and this number has more than doubled in the past six months. In addition, the ratio of downloads to subscribers averages 2:1. This suggests a significant secondary market for podcast listenership beyond just the feed's subscribers.

Pluggd is compiling 37,000 podcasts -- more than twice as many as competitor PodShow” + “secret sauce": founder says he has capcity to place “relevant ads in online audio and video - a difficult technological hurdle but one that plays into Castro's strengths in speech recognition and digital media.”

… and then there’s Couplets

I don't know how reliable this figure is, since Feedburner (very nice service) "podcaster" option is well liked by people who just want to insert rich medias (pictures, mainly) in their posts.
