One Click Web Sites

I just got an email about a service called Posima. The Web application software is for small businesses and non-profits to create and manage their own sites. It's similar to blogging tools. What's nice is that you can build in e-commerce functionality. They're also wisely going the 37 Signals route and are charging $35 a month right up front. This fills a nice void in the marketplace for small businesses that might want to set up a site but are not interested blogging - even though blogging is far more discoverable.

How did charging for a web service become the 37 Signals route? Weird.

Steve,

I just wrote (today) on Posima as well. I'm not a web 2.0 expert so I looked at it more from an innovation perspective. From the standpoint of successfully catering to a market segment that was underserved, I think this application has some definite potential. I think there are a lot of small businesses out there who want a web presence, without going the blog route, regardless of the discoverability. In fact, I bet that the number simply looking for an online home for their content far outweigh the number who want discoverable content.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of applications like Posima.

On another note - wouldn't it be great if they had a different rate for non-profits? Charging $0.00 would sure get a lot of positive attention, and exposure, for a young company.

interesting service, there is also Neo CMS that is great in that respect:

blogging is far more discoverable, but it requires mor time and strenth. I think that service deserves attention and it's not expensive.
