Yahoo Buys del.icio.us

There's been rumors that big news was brewing with del.icio.us. Well now Josh Schachter announced on his blog that Yahoo has purchased del.cio.us. I conducted a brief iChat IM interview with Josh, which I have published below. The key news is that del.icio.us and Yahoo My Web 2.0 for now will remain separate products with cross-polination in the future. For more, see the YSearchblog, which for some reason doesn't have trackbacks anymore. Congrats to Josh and del.icio.us!

This is good news? I'm not sure why I should be thrilled. Happy for Josh, I guess, but what about the rest of us... wait and see I guess.

You've got a cool gravatar though.

I hope the integration goes well. Yahoo's permissions are certainly valuable for people using it for things they'd like to keep private.

Will Yahoo manage to fully integrate the service so I don't have to login to it throughout the day? I can only hope.

Hope you received permission to publish the transacript.

note to self: if anyone should ever buy Clipmarks remember who called who first!

He doesn't remember?

Let's recap that conversation:

Yahoo: We'd like to pay you and your investors 17M so you and your small team can come and use our unlimited resource, to expand your service before our homegrown service (and the 500 other competitors doing the same thing) cut into your market share and destroys any chance you have of ever making any money on this project
Josh: Can you hold? I have another call.
Josh: Hey Mom.
Mom: Am I interrupting anything?
Josh: No mom, what's up?
Mom: Well your sister said that your dad said that your....

Something like that, maybe?

He doesn't remember? B.S.

The Delicious clone http://www.digforporn.com is catching up to delicious.com. Especially since the new yahoo acquired delicious.com is always down for "maintenance"

Hmmm. Just discovered del.icio.us. Now I'm waiting for the dreaded "error 999" message that effectively bars me from flickr.

If only Google had bought the pair of them :(

1 year after yahoo bought delicious, i wonder if they regret it now.. i didnt grow as expected
