The Show Must Go On

Over past several months I have had the unique opportunity to podcast with a living legend of marketing - Joseph Jaffe. Earlier this year I read his book and I was charged. Joe outlines a future for marketing that is consistent with my vision. Shortly thereafter we launched the Across the Sound podcast and since then we have attracted some 450 loyal listeners.

Unfortunately, I have found the demands of co-running a weekly podcast rather great. My blog continues to grow and now I have a new set of responsibilites at CooperKatz with my recent promotion to Senior Vice President. My mantra in 2006 is to keep it simple. I am going only to focus on the initiaitves that have the greatest value. It's all very GTD.

Across the Sound, while a lot of fun and engaging, doesn't quite fit into that pie. So, I am going to cede the show to Joe who will retool it and I am sure take it to new heights. Don't be surprised however if I podcast here - keep my FeedBurner feed in your podcatcher. I also may pop up on Across the Sound from time to time. I am a huge believer in podcasting as an emerging medium. I just need to put it in perspective and participate in it on a schedule that fits my life.

But, you can certainly take a listen to these two Podcast gems: First up is Joseph Jaffe and his excellent Podcast, Across The Sound. This is his first episode without Steve Rubel of Micro Persuasion and Jaffe is pulling a... [Read More]

Too bad. I mean, congratulations to your promotion and long live the retooled Across the Sound! But I will for sure miss both the insights you provided, and perhaps even more, the special tone in your chats with Joseph.
Thank for the episodes that made in, and I will stay tuned both feeds.

I am really sorry to hear that, I just started to get addicted - I guess I got to compensate it with some extra Juice now.. But I fully understand - one has to prioritize and it just isnt possible to do all. I would personally love to do a podcast - but I just dont have the time for it. Just don't tell us that you haven't got time to the blog later ;)

All the best,

Net

I suppose 'congrats' and 'sorry' in the same sentence might seem a bit odd, Steve, but you'll know what I mean.

I'll continue listening to Across the Sound, but I'll miss that interaction between you and Joseph. That's what makes the show special - your interaction, the conversation.

But as you said, the show must go on!

Well Steve...

Continue persuading on a micro level and I know you will.

Thanks

Jose

Agree with Neville. I quite look forward to my dose of ATS just as I do with FIR.

I'll continue to listen too, but tell Joe he's got to accommodate for all the PR listeners too.

Steve,
As someone who cut his teeth on new media & PR under the Across the Sound guidance, this is big news indeed. I understand your decision, but it still changes so many things. Good luck and warm thanks.

Living legend?

I must be missing something. Wouldn't be the first time.

Steve-
Don't you hate those pesky promotions? Hate to hear you are leaving, but best of luck at CooperKatz.

Will definitely keep listening and thanks for your inspiration and advice - which we have taken to heart in our podcast. Best wishes.

Very sorry to hear that Steve - I'm a recent but completely addicted listener to Across the Sound. Oh well, at least we still have your blog!

Maybe he should find someone less agreeable and have more confrontation. From the couple of shows sent to me, it was too much like a morning show skit, with too much agreement.

Too bad, especially when your promo was played by Adam Curry on Daily Source Code.

Best of luck (not that you need it).
Molly

Sorry to hear that Steve...you will be missed. Who's gonna crack wise about my "Davey Jones" name whenever I pop a comment in? Besides, your laugh cracks me up.

Seriously, my exploration of this space has really got me excited about the future of our industry. Chiming in on ATS is fun, but I've been inspired to start my own blog. And a lot of that is thanks to you.

You're still a must read for me and I hope to chat with you more on The New PR Wiki "Going the Distance" discussion.

Rats, this blows a quite a bit.

Good luck next year, get things done...!

PS. David Burn: ;)

Sad news... You will be sincerely missed as your dynamic with Joe was exceptional. I wish you the best, of course, but please do not stay a stranger, visit ATS as often as you can.

PS.. Does this mean that ATS will get the flamenco guitar ambiance... :)

nice article! very interesting
