The Road to the Last 25%

Yesterday I blogged about the need to go the distance in getting the PR community fully immersed in the conversational world - what Tony Perkins and I call the last 25%. Jeremy Pepper, David Parmet and others have suggested that this should be an open dialogue. In other words, they feel it should not just be limited to the Richard Edelmans of the world.

I am for this if it can be managed. I want to make sure that the task force that is driving the agenda here can actually walk the talk and put this plan into action in their own firms. I want to have either the CEOs or new media gurus who work at mid-sized and large firms create initial recommendations (out in the open) and then extend this invitation to the broader PR community. Otherwise we'll be stuck in 75% land. It will be all talk and no action. We need to get folks involved who are power brokers and can make things happen while balancing this with the need to enable anyone to play a role.

What I would like to take Jeremy Pepper's suggestion is that we host this over on the New PR Wiki is a good one. I would like to have say 10-15 other CEOs/new media gurus from mid size and large firms join me for an initial draft of the agenda and/or suggested next steps. This will be followed by a comment stage where we see what others have to offer. Does this work? What do you think? Keep in mind this is all about action. As utopian as it is to have everyone participate, this may not result in action - just more talk. I look forward to hearing your reaction.
