Congrats to Technorati's David Sifry, who is profiled in the latest issue of The Economist. He talks about how Technorati is a “river of human chatter.” That's great - unfortunately, not all of it is human. I invite you to start taking a closer look at Technorati's list of the Top 100 blogs. Some of them are just littered with links from splogs (spam blogs) - like (as of this writing) this one. Poor Justin.
The good news is that they're working on this. Niall Kennedy confirms that Technorati has “a job listing out for a data quality person to handle these types of issues. The (top 100 blogs) list changes often, and it's one of the consequences of having a fresh list,” he told me via IM. “Now that we have finished our link recalculation I will review the list in English, and have our Japanese team take a look at the Asian results.”
Glad to know they're on the case. I want Technorati to improve. We depend on them too much.
