Blog Spam at 30%, Expert Sez

Intelliseek's Pete Blackshaw writes that his data is showing that 30 percent of blog posts created today are spam. Can you feel the noise getting louder on this issue?

Splogs are a huge problem. They just increase the volume of the web without adding useful content. Ideally, indexers will find some way to de-index them. I predict that the first blog search engine that promotes some degree of "splog free" will enjoy tremendous popularity.

One industrious person, Frank Gruber, has created a site and Firefox bookmarklet to report splogs: http://splogreporter.com/
It will be interesting to see what he's able to do with the data.
