We the Editors

Gabe Rivera has relaunched his pioneering memeorandum news aggregation project with a site on tech news and another on world affairs and politics.

Keep an eye on what Gabe is working on. It's the future of news aggregation and a nice complement to existing sites like Topix.net and Google News (disclaimer - Topix is a CooperKatz client).

I particularly like Gabe's philosphy here. These sites were built with the understanding that: 1) blogs collectively function as news editor, 2) sometimes breaking news is posted to a blog created just to relate that news, and 3) news is a conversation.

This is just another link in the chain of what I call the “Trust Economy.” People will gravitate to the products and service providers they trust the most. This goes for news just as much as it does for products. (Corporate blogs, when done well, by the way beget trust.) Some put all their “trust dollars” in the New York Times. But increasingly, I think readers will invest the most time with news/blog aggregation sites.
