Blogger Salaries Surface

Adam Penenberg at Wired News breaks down the earnings of those who blog for a living at Weblogs Inc. and Gawker Media. At the end of the piece, he cites reports that pegs Gawker's bloggers earning $5,000. Nick Denton disputes this and there is indeed other evidence to the contrary. Notably, Jessica Coen of Gawker told New York Magazine she earns $30,000 annually. However, there is clearly a disparity out there in what bloggers are paid. Poynter's Jim Romensko earns $169k, according to the magazine.

UPDATE: Jessica Coen writes in via email: “I never told NYM anything. That's not even close to my salary and they never called to fact-check.”
