Apple, Microsoft May Square Off Over Podcasting Patent
The Register reports that Microsoft owns the patent for podcasting. In 2002 they patented “an application to generate playlists for a library collection of media items via selecting a plurality of seed items, at least one which is an undesirable seed item.” As a result, the Register says the US patent office has rejected Apple’s application to have exclusive rights to podcasting, setting up a potential legal battle.
