What Makes a Meme, a Meme?

Mark Glaser's latest column on OJR looks behind the results of the Contagious Media Showdown, a contest to see who could create the most popular web sites in 22 days. Winners include Forget-Me-Not Panties, Crying While Eating and Blogebrity. OJR broke down the numbers and found that meta-blogs such as Slashdot and Fark, as well as old-media mentions play key roles for the winning entries.
