Six NFL, Two NHL Teams Offer Private-Label RSS Readers

Theportnetwork

Over the past few weeks I have seen a major uptake in RSS subscribers from ThePort Network, which I have never heard of until now. ThePort Network offers a turn-key hosted solution allowing any organization to create a private linkblog for for fans, customers, and/or employees. The service includes desktop alerting and a desktop news reader. Someone must have subscribed to their service with my feed pre-loaded.

What's  more notable, however, is that according to their Web site, six NFL and NHL teams are using their tool to distribute desktop RSS news alerts. This includes the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills, among others.

The NHL has no Hockey players, RSS cannot change that.
