NY Times Lags Blogosphere by Months
BL Ochman: "I've decided to start an unscientific project tracking how long it takes a story to get from the blogosphere to The New York Times. In the case of bloggers getting fired for what they write on their personal blogs, it's been about five months, according to this BlogPulse conversation tracker."

Technically, it's FAR longer than that. People have been talking about bloggers getting fired for blogging (though technically that's not really what has happened in some cases) for quite a while. Hell, when did we hear that Dooce got fired?
Plus, considering the NYT the bellwether of all things MSM is kind of old hat as well. There are plenty of other mainstream sources that have been on top of the story for a while. So if you want to discuss the NYT being behind the times, that's one thing - but you can just check Gawker for that, too.

I'd be interested in seeing a list of "plenty of other mainstream sources that have been on top of the story for a while." Any chance you can point out some that have covered not single firings but the whole issue?
