Search Engine Strategies Round-up

I spoke at the Search Engine Strategies conference today on a panel called "Blogs, Boards, and Posts: Capturing Consumer Buzz Online." I was joined by Gary Stein from JupiterResearch, Jonathan Carson of BuzzMetrics, Mark Fletcher from BlogLines/Ask Jeeves and Mike Nazzaro from Intelliseek. I also got to meet, among others, Nathan Weinberg who blogged the session and posted yet another hideous picture of me! A great session in all.

Great forum! It really was very informative and provided a lot of insight into this really fast growing area of search marketing. And its o.k. we won't tell those 6 states you were in town :)

great session today Steve... thoroughly enjoyed it :)

one other trick i use that you might mention for identifying message boards & forums -- Google Directory (aka DMOZ) combined with Google Page Rank can turn up some otherwise less-noticed locations within a ategory or vertical, and often includes links to message boards.

often times, to learn more about a subject, i'll flip to Google Directory, do a search on a site i'm aware of, then lookup other sites within the same Directory hieararchy and check the most popular (by Page Rank) sites listed.

doesn't always work, but sometimes it turns up a new forum or two... and within those you might find a new alpha customer evangelist ;)

Oh come on, that picture wasn't half as hideous as you make it out to be...

Well, maybe a little...

Yes, these events teach you the ins-and-outs of search engine marketing from top experts in the field, along with information from the search engines themselves.
