The Akron Beacon Journal today has a feature on the blogging doctor behind Medpundit. User registration (free) is required to view the article.
For those who can't get enough of health information, like to read commentary and sometimes wish they could find out what an everyday physician is really thinking, there's a Web site for you.
To be more specific, the site is a ``blog.'' In Internet jargon, a blog is sort of an online diary written by one person that frequently contains links to other articles of interest.
The blog in question is Medpundit, a sophisticated, meandering compilation of new research studies, graphics, references to everything and anything medical, with cheeky asides. There are also lists of new books and a roundup of offbeat, health-related places to visit.
The blog is written by ``Sidney Smith,'' a pseudonym for a board-certified family physician who has been in private practice since 1991. Smith explains that she uses the false name to avoid offending any of her private patients who may find the Web site.
