Two invitations crossed my inbox this week that demonstrate the PR industry is coming to terms with the changes that are taking place as blogs and participatory journalism gain steam.
The Bulldog Reporter is organizing an audio conference on June 17 called "How PR Pros Can Exploit the Newest Online Pitching Opportunities." The event, featuring Dan Gillmor, will cover "how journalists use the Internet for research and the role of blogs as an Internet-only medium and how PR should approach this new army of 'personal journalists.'"
BusinessWire also has a similar breakfast coming up on June 29 on "how the web has marginalized the traditional gatekeeper, giving public relations and marketing executives the opportunity and power to reach consumer audiences and control the message like never before." I will be attending this event, which features Al Ries, and plan to blog it. If you're also interested in going to this free event, please email Francine Vida at BusinessWire at francine.vida(at)businesswire.com.
