Mary Jo Foley reports that Bill Gates called blogging and the RSS Web content syndication service a "very interesting phenomenon." Key story quote: "He suggested in a speech that by using RSS as notification system, customers can 'get the information you want when you want it.'" [UPDATED - the Gates transcript has been posted on the Microsoft Web site]
The Oxford Student looks at how the blogosphere is changing the shape of the media. Key quote: "As with many recent revolutions (think Amazon, Napster and e-mail) blogging is a child of the internet and the endless possibilities that it makes available. In this case, it allows individuals to become their own one-person (blogging tends to be a solitary activity) media houses."
Finally, JD Lasica covers some new Technorati research that depicts the how the blogosphere links back to major media news sites. Key quote: "What's shocking, in a way, is how quickly the top-tier blogs like Instapundit and BoingBoing already have more link authority than well-established news sites like Slate, Fox, Reuters, MSNBC and USA Today. This, only two years after blogs have taken off in a big way."
